The subject of the painting is a still life of a taxidermied lynx from my beginner oil painting class. For the assignment, we were only allowed to use three colors. I sought to capture the wild and untamed nature of the animal with vigorous strokes that leap off the canvas juxtaposed with the smoother objects surrounding the main subject.
