For this assignment, we were supposed to incorporate chance into our drawing process intentionally. I got to one of my winter study classes early and randomly found a $168 Pilot Vanishing Point Fountain Pen lying on one of the tables. I decided to use it to create a grim take on Cassius Marcellus Coolidge's "Dogs Playing Poker." The subjects of the painting are four Chinese dog breeds associated with luck: a chow chow, pug, shih tzu, and a Chongqing dog playing Russian roulette against a Doberman and a black cat. The chow chow says ciao because his luck ran out looking at the black cat and the Doberman is dead. Lastly, in the background, there's a painting of cats playing poker.
