LaGrande Dragon Ch.1 & 2

My graphic novel, “La Grande Dragon,” explores the circumstances that make someone hate. It takes place in the 1920s, La Grande, Oregon. The main character is a young white boy named Cal who comes from an abusive household, gets bullied at school, and is finally pushed over the edge. He is saved and adopted by the Grand Dragon of the local chapter of the Ku Klux Klan. After being indoctrinated, his hatred for others is fueled by his self-loathing. He later encounters an African American nun who plants a seed of compassion in his mind. He becomes conflicted about his racism as he discovers that he is Jewish. He is thrown out of the KKK and adopted by the nun whom he despised.
